Built in 1912 to look futuristic — and then frozen right there. The result a century on is a district of tangled neon, old arcades, hole-in-the-wall kushikatsu joints, and Tsutenkaku Tower standing over the whole thing. It's the spot Osaka locals send you to for the city's third famous dish, kushikatsu, and for a retro Osaka vibe you won't find in Umeda.
