Also known as Nanyo-dori

Shinsekai's main pedestrian alley — the spine you walk to hit everything else in the district. Named for the 'janjan' sound of the shamisen, since players historically busked here to draw customers in. Today it's lined with cheap kushikatsu joints, retro game shops, takoyaki stands, and nostalgic snack stalls. Enter via Dobutsuen-mae station for the southern Coney Island-inspired half of Shinsekai.

💡 Local tips
  • Enter via Dobutsuen-mae Station — puts you at the south end of the alley.
  • Build the rest of your Shinsekai walk around this single street.
