The shrine at the eastern end of Shijo Street, gateway between central Kyoto and Gion. Hundreds of lanterns fill the main hall courtyard and light up at night — go in the evening. It's open 24/7, which makes it the rare temple you can wander at 2am after a night in Pontocho.
