Kyoto
The old capital β a thousand years of temples, tea houses, and geiko districts folded into a city small enough to cross by bicycle. Dense with seasonal ritual: cherry blossoms in April, maples in November.

4 days in Tokyo, I've saved 12 spots, I love food and mornings
Got it. Here's the plan:
Book Ghibli 3 months out. Tsukiji tuna moves at 6am.
Spotlight Β· Osaka
Namba Yasaka Shrine
The one with the enormous 12-meter lion head that looks like it's about to eat the shrine grounds β the mouth is said to swallow evil spirits and spit back good luck. Entry is free and it opens at 6am, which is exactly when you want to be there: by mid-morning the photo spot has a line. It closes early in the afternoon, so don't slot this into your evening.
